Atlanta, Aisle 5

Our comfortable van ride
Yesterday we had a pretty uneventful drive from Asheville to Atlanta. Dave drove, I worked on my computer, and Louisa watched Outlander. We fit very comfortably in the van!
Arriving at Aisle 5 in Atlanta, I took a photo of this John Lewis quote for our mother, in honor of the protesters of cop city!

Anyway, we arrived at the venue, loaded in, grabbed some Vietnamese food across the street, then came back for soundcheck. Aisle 5 is a sweet little venue with great sound and a very talented light guy. It's a versatile place - we hear they hosted a punk show the night before with a hard core mosh pit.
It was a bit stressful before we started because the promo materials said the show started at 8, but the venue's schedule posted in the Green Room had us starting at 7:30. At around 7:30, Louisa brought this concern up to the right person and they let us wait till 8, which was clutch since there was practically no one there at 7:30.

Darlingside setting up

By the time 8 rolled around we had a pretty nice crowd. Patrick (whom I will talk about in the last paragraph) and a bunch of his family and their friends were friendly faces in the crowd, as were my friends Sam and Jazmin from New Orleans!
Set list:
Benny, Cass's song*, Cigarette*, What Can I Do*, Gold*, Nobody's Watching, Red Neck Yaught Club, and End of Your Song*. Stars denote songs Elisabeth sang harmony on. She will start singing on Red Neck Yaught Club soon, once they figure out how to integrate her harmonies with Dan's.

Our accommodations last night were next level! Louisa's friend Patrick, from Asheville, is originally from Atlanta and we stayed with him and his wonderful mother, Millie, in their beautiful house in the neighborhood of Vinings. Patrick tells us that Atlanta has the most tree cover of any major metropolitan area of the city, and this is evident on the ground - it's truly very green and lush, with tree branches bending over windy streets. Below is Louisa and Patrick in his childhood backyard.

Ok so long for today. We're off to Nashville in a few minutes for a house show tonight!
