We stopped for some pho in Worchester and arrived to The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge around 5:15pm. We were set up in no time and ready to run some songs. There is something so lovely and easy about traveling with this crew thus far. No fuss, everyone has their set up and knows what they want and need.. We're quiet and relaxed, making jokes and having fun, but we also all seem to take touring seriously enough. There is an unsaid understanding that although we can have a good time, touring is hard work, and generally takes a lot of focus and thoughtfulness to get everything right. Although we've never done this show before, we've all done this a thousand times. I'm so impressed by these gals (and Dave!).
We had a silly time in the Greenroom and went on a little after 8. It was a pleasantly full house, and once again, we wondered where all the folks had come from. The Lizard Lounge is a cool venue that we have all played before. It's a small dark room with moody lighting and a stage that is on the same level as the crowd. The people are sat and standing on three sides of the stage area, so it's always fun and challenging to try and interact with everyone.
We were told that our stage banter was exceptionally funny and our music was ethereal. I think I liked this performance a little bit more than the previous night. Although I don't think I played quite as well, I think we were all just a bit more relaxed, and the crowd seemed to be as well. The only problem was that there was a ceiling leak in one of the corners that the staff was trying to fix with plastic bags and duct tape for half of the show. A bit distracting, but still a good time :)
I met some lovely people at the merch table after, and it seems plenty had pre-ordered my upcoming album. The people were supportive and sweet, and I was happy that Don from Darlingside and his wife Katie made it out! They are always a riot.
Molly led us to our host's home 5 minutes from the venue - Ellie! Wowowowoow. This house is like Dr. Seuss. It's so very magically colored inside - All shades of pink and lime green with gold leaf stripes and funky furniture and fun lights everywhere. We were immediately happy stepping into the entrance.. Ellie is a friend of Darlingside's from college, and loves to host musicians. We love people like this!! She made us manhattans and we lounged in the fabulous living room just getting to know her sweet self. She has this huge golden retriever that lies on his belly with his legs splayed out behind him, licking his treats and being quite hilariously cute. We all went to bed in our squishy beds, and now I sit here smelling bacon in the morning, drinking coffee.
Tonight - Waldoboro, ME!
