Back on the road with a new crew! We have formed a “supergroup” as me, Molly Parden & Eliza Edens, with Dave Kelly accompanying us on drums. We played a Valentines Day special at The Parlor Room last night in Northampton, MA and were thrilled that it all came together so smoothly.
To give you some more background, a few months ago when our shared booking agent was booking us these shows together, he suggested we collaborate on some of our songs. I was immediately psyched on this idea because I love listening and singing along to both Molly and Eliza's music, and I also love hanging out with them! They had never met each other before, but they were into the idea as well. So each of us picked 5 or 6 songs of our own that we wanted the group to learn and it all just sorta came together. Molly and Eliza traded playing bass, Eliza and I traded playing lead guitar, we all added harmonies to every song, and Dave brought it all together with the drums!
We ended up having time for only two rehearsals spread out over 2.5 months before this show, one of them being that very afternoon, so we were all a bit nervous beforehand.. But it ended up being very fun with not nearly as many mistakes as we thought we’d make! It helped that the house was full and the crowd was attentive and seemingly full of love on the holiday for love itself. The Parlor Room is a magical venue in a tiny building in downtown Northampton. I have played it a couple times before and I’ll say that this time was my favorite!
I had gotten zero sleep the night before, so the moment we were off the stage and talking to people at the merch table, I started seeing double and almost fell over. We got out of there relatively quickly though and drove the 30 minute drive back to Molly’s house in Westfield, where I slept for a good 10 hours.
This morning we lazed around the house, had a delicious breakfast, and now we are off to The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA!
